
Peng T. Ong joined GSR Ventures as a Partner in August 2010, and focuses on investments in the Internet, wireless, and software sectors.
Peng brings to GSR his years of experience as a successful serial entrepreneur. He founded Match.com (sold to IAC), Interwoven (NASDAQ:IWOV; now Autonomy), and Encentuate (sold to IBM). He was the President and CEO of Interwoven through 1997, and its chairman through 2002. During his tenure, he led Interwoven to a successful IPO. He then started Encentuate, which became the basis for the IBM Singapore Software Lab. In addition, Peng held various engineering and management positions at Gensym, Illustra, and Sybase. Peng has also co-authored numerous patents.
Peng currently chairs a US$200 million venture capital fund in Singapore. He is also an independent board member of Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel).
Peng received a master’s degree in computer science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a BSEE from the University of Texas at Austin.
